How commanders work
Outside the campaigns, commanders are generic faction units chosen before the match, with the faction and starting position. You produce them from the headquarters for a cost, usually mid-match after some unlocks.
Match settings can make the commander a starting unit or remove commanders entirely.
Five commanders have their own Crusade at launch, each with its own goals, starting conditions and advantages.

| Chaplain Ezrael | Space Marines | Dark Angels commander who rides with the Ravenwing bikes for lightning hit-and-run strikes. Voiced by Alex Jordan. |
| Warboss Gorgutz | Orks | Slow in Mega Armour but very strong in melee and at range. His 'I'm Out of Here' teleports him to safety and leaves a pile of Gretchin bombs behind. Voiced by Brian Drummond. |
| Beastboss Guzcutta | Orks | Beast Snagga boss, two units in one: a very tough fighter on foot, then faster on a rideable Squigosaur that fights beside him. |
| Chronomancer Thothmek | Necrons | Bends time with chronomantic powers to strengthen his legions and confound enemies. Voiced by James Alexander. |
| Ahmnok | Necrons | Melee-first Necron commander who fights up close instead of manipulating the battlefield from afar. |
| Potentia Delta-9 | Adeptus Mechanicus | Technoarcheologist who scouts with a servo-skull; flexible upgrades turn her into a melee or a ranged fighter. Voiced by Jess Nesling. |
| Skitarii Marshal Sek-Ix-23 | Adeptus Mechanicus | Buffs every unit in range and is the only multi-model commander, thanks to his bodyguards. Voiced by Richard Reed. |
Campaign characters and voices
Lion El'Jonson appears in the campaign in a small but pivotal role, voiced by Alistair Petrie. Other characters include Magos Dominus Nulpherus-1 and Governor Augusta Vorn.
Steve Blum voices Cyrus, Brian Drummond returns as Gorgutz, Joshua Manning plays Guzcutta and Jess Nesling plays Potentia Delta-9.
